Kamilah Heartwell, Principal 5-8

Kamilah Heartwell is a native of New Jersey where she attended the prestigious Kent Place School for Girls in Summit, New Jersey. After graduation she moved to Hampton to attend Hampton University; she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Education. Upon graduation Ms. Heartwell returned to New Jersey to teach for three years in Englewood, New Jersey. She followed her spouse to the Tidewater Area, VA in 2000 to teach and raise three children in the Tidewater Area of Virginia. She was a member of the Warwick High School family for 18 years teaching in the International Baccalaureate Program and earned a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction; she  also served as a Content and Grade Level Lead, and Administrator while still in Virginia as well. After relocating back to my home state in 2019, she served as a Data Administrator in Jersey City and as a Supervisor for Social Studies in Newark. It is an honor to be returning to Philip’s for a second year as Principal of 3rd-7th grades!
